Hats off to a great night of Bingo

Have you ever wondered how to fundraise…PEPY style? Well now is your chance to find out! Read all about November’s Bingo Night fundraiser in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
On Tuesday 20th November, PEPY hosted a Bingo Night in Siem Reap. Following the success of last year, the 2012 event proved to be a great night with over 70 people taking part. Not only was it an evening full of fun and great prizes, the event raised awareness about PEPY’s work and over $400 for PEPY programs.
The event was held at Rosy Guesthouse. The bar and seating area were decorated with bingo balls and posters, and PEPY staff members were on hand to sell bingo cards at just $2 a sheet. By 7.45pm, our brilliant guest bingo callers, Yut and Alberto, were briefed and ready to go, and with our bingo hats at the ready, it was great to see so many people out to have a great evening and support PEPY.

There were fifteen rounds of bingo in total, with each round culminating in a mystery prize. The first player to cover a line was invited to choose from the PEPY basket of prizes. Local businesses had generously donated prizes for the night. Participants had the chance to win everything, from luxury massages to meals out for two, and of course, the famous PEPY Hug! With over 30 prizes donated, a raffle was held at the end of the night as a last chance to win some amazing gifts. We’d like to say a big thank you to all those who contributed!

This year we also added an extra competition to the evening, a prize for the best hat. It was a difficult decision with so many amazing entries – including one made entirely from a mosquito net – but in the end the prize went to one of the staff at Rosy’s. They really got involved in the evening and helped make the night a great success.
The evening was particularly important to PEPY as it was a chance to spread the word about PEPY’s work and our matching grant campaign. Many of the guests had never donated to PEPY before and so it was a great opportunity – a $2 bingo card meant PEPY received $44. In total, we raised $406.80 from selling bingo cards and raffle tickets. As part of the Matching Grant Campaign, our grand total for the evening was a staggering $3,564!
Overall we received some great feedback from the evening and had a lot of fun in the process. The countdown is now on for PEPY Bingo Night 3 coming to Siem Reap in 2013!
