There is now just one month remaining of our 2015 Annual Campaign, so we thought we would share an update with you.
There have been a number of themes running throughout our campaign. A key focus of ours throughout the campaign has been to share with you tangible information about the students and what they learn here at PEPY Empowering Youth. As such, the students have been making videos on some of the soft skills and topics that they have been developing in the Learning Center. The acquisition and development of such skills is a vital factor in ensuring our key mission and goals are realized; it has been found that whilst candidates possessed the necessary academic qualifications, employees report that the majority lacked fundamental soft skills to ensure their employability. Therefore, the Learning Center program provides a forum in which students can cultivate the skills that will propel them to the forefront of the employment pool. In addition to this, the students are introduced to, and familiarized with issues such as mental health, which are essential to their overall wellbeing. You can watch the videos on our Facebook page, here. In addition to the students’ Skills videos, we have also been sharing information with you about the students who have obtained jobs and their individual achievements. You will find these posts on our blog, here.
We have been encouraging supporters to take part in our ‘Power of 10’ initiative; donate $10 to PEPY Empowering Youth and invite 10 others to do the same. Next month, we will also be holding a Quiz Night in support of our Annual Campaign fundraising efforts. The quiz will take place at New Leaf on Wednesday 9th December at 7pm. We would love for those of you in Siem Reap to join us, and for those of you who are unable to attend, you can support our campaign by holding your own PEPY Empowering Youth event. You can find more information and resources, here.
We have been working hard to engage new donors, as well as those who have donated to PEPY Empowering Youth before. We are also working to establish corporate partnership, so that they can be matched with groups of scholarship students, based on their academic field, not only for their support financially, but as a source of mentorship for the students.
To date, we have raised $4,331.50 during the first two months of the campaign. Whilst we are very grateful for everyone’s contributions so far, this still leaves us with a long way to go in order to achieve our target of raising $25,000 by the end of December. Please donate to our Annual Campaign today. Remember, until the end of December, any money that is donated will be matched by an anonymous donor. This means that your donation will make #doublethedifference!
Keep an eye on both our Facebook and Twitter pages for up to date information about the Annual Campaign, more videos from the students and information on the upcoming quiz night.
