We were really interested to read about a study conducted in Phnom Penh focusing on the current level of mathematics teaching in primary schools.
This research, conducted by the NEP and Global Partnership for Education, aimed to gain a better understanding of the standard of early grade mathematics education in Cambodia, and the problems faced by teachers following the government curriculum.
From our experience working in schools in Chanleas Dai and Kralanh district, we are more than familiar with the problems faced by government teachers and the difficulties in finding adequate time to teach the full curriculum.
We look forward to hearing the findings of further research carried out by the NEP and Global Partnership for Education in rural areas of Cambodia.
